Wine Enthusiast gives 92 Points for the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon - Brigden Vineyard (Sonoma County). "The vineyard is up in the Mayacamas Mountains between Spring Mountain and Sonoma Valley, and the wine shows quite a bit of power. Coming from this hot vintage, it's also very ripe and fruity, in a California way. But it's classically structured and dry, and the tannins are softly complex. This delicious, ageable Cab is a worthy followup to the '03. - S.H."

Wine Spectator awards Owl Ridge Wines with 89 Points for the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon - T. R. Passalacqua Vineyard (Dry Creek Valley). "Intense and vibrant, with fresh, snappy, racy black cherry, wild berry, spice and mineral flavors that are clean and refreshing, ending with a nice burst of red berry fruit. Drink now through 2013. - JL"

In their August 2007 issue (Page 28), The Wine Enthusiast wrote about Owl Ridge Wines and was very complimentary with their comments. They restated their previous rating of 93 points for our 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon – Brigden Vineyard and gave a new 92 rating to our 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon – T.R. Passalacqua Vineyard.

Our gold medal winning streak continues. The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon – T.R. Passalacqua Vineyard won its sixth gold medal at the 2007 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Our 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon – Vineyard Select won its sixth gold medal at the same competition. This brings to 22 the number of gold medals won by current Owl Ridge Wines.

We did well at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair. This is the big event for wineries in our area and we were competing against a large number of famous winery names. One gold was for the 2003 Cab – T.R. Passalacqua Vineyard. This wine has now won FIVE gold medals at respected competitions. The second gold was for the 2003 Cab – Sonoma County, which was also designated “Best of Class”. This wine is a tremendous bargain at $20. Just two days after the event, we have almost sold out, but will reserve about 30 cases for those who order on this website or through our mailing list.
We were very excited that The Wine Enthusiast Magazine (September issue) has rated the 2003 Brigden Cab 93 points. They thought the wine was young, but also believed that the fruit and balance was such that it was likely to age very well. We put it in a heavy bottle with a very long cork to maximize aging potential. However, we feel it is eminently drinkable now for those who like the beautiful tannic structure.

Owl Ridge Wines voted "Best New Winery" at Wine Literary Awards Tasting. Approximately 80 wine writers were in attendance. The winners were chosen by secret ballot from among 1,000 American wines. This is a special honor for us, considering the quality of the competition and the depth of the judging contingent.

Owl Ridge Wines 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon – Vineyard Select won Gold at the 2006 Grand Harvest Awards!
February, 2006
Owl Ridge 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon – Brigden Vineyard was voted Wine of the Week by Vinocritic.com!
"The wine was awesome! No need to age it. It's ready right now! " Guest review (T.E.): "I love this wine." "It seems too well tamed for a 100% Cab, but has too much kick for a Merlot. Could this be a super-duper Meritage?" "It got even better as it opened up." "This is the best bottle we have had for a while." FIVE STARS.

We are pleased to announce the release of the 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon – Brigden Vineyard. This elegant wine is an outstanding rich Cab that comes from the vineyard just on the Sonoma County side of Spring Mountain. It follows the highly successful 2002 vintage which found its way onto the wine list at Guy Savoy Restaurant in Paris, arguably one of the best restaurants in the world. The 2002 was sold out (except for our library allocation), largely by word of mouth. The 2003 will be available on this website and at a few high quality retail outlets. At this point you can find it at the Oakville Grocery San Francisco and Ludwig’s Fine Wines and Spirits in San Anselmo in Marin County.
